Bill Ledingham is VP, Engineering for Verdasys. He is a seasoned technology professional with over 25 years of experience in bringing new technologies and companies to market. Bill most recently served as VP of Engineering at Avalere, a software company focused on information management and security, which was acquired by Iron Mountain Digital. Prior to Avalere, he served as the initial VP of Marketing and Business Development at Virtual Iron, a server virtualization software company. Previously, Bill held a number of executive positions at SpeechWorks, a leader in speech-based solutions that IPO’d in 2000 and later merged with ScanSoft/Nuance in 2003. As a founding member of the company, he was the VP of Marketing and Business Development during the early phase of the company and was instrumental in building relationships and closing deals with strategic partners and customers including Intel, Nortel, Microsoft, AT&T, AOL and Fidelity. Later, he served as VP of Product Development and Support, leading the development and introduction of a number of award-winning speech recognition and speech synthesis products. Prior to SpeechWorks, Bill held senior marketing positions at Stratus Computer, including product management responsibility for product lines which generated over $500 million in revenue annually. He started his career in engineering positions at HP and IBM.
Bill holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University, and a MBA from Harvard University. Bill’s honors include Tau Beta Pi, Phi Beta Kappa, and the Terman Engineering Award for graduating at top of Stanford's undergraduate engineering class.
