Digital Guardian 5 Redefines the Data Loss Prevention Market by introducing a revolutionary host based solution for Information Risk Management, Content Protection and Compliance
Waltham, MA – November 12, 2007 – Verdasys Inc., the first company to provide enterprise-wide data security solutions for the Global 2000 and the leader in host based data loss prevention, with over 500,000 agents deployed, announced today the general availability of Digital Guardian 5. Digital Guardian 5 offers a revolutionary and fully integrated framework for comprehensive data loss prevention, governance, compliance, content protection and encryption. Digital Guardian 5 enables customers to economically, intelligently and adaptively address the broadest set of expanding information risk challenges in today’s highly collaborative and mobile business environment.
Digital Guardian 5 eliminates the need to deploy the bewildering array of complex point-solutions and immature agents that lack the integrated capabilities needed to meet the many diverse business use cases required for data security, compliance and governance. By providing a comprehensive data security foundation that protects the data integrity of business processes for today’s leading corporations, Digital Guardian assures that data, applications and usage of information are governed, controlled, audited and when necessary, automatically encrypted across infrastructure and business process boundaries.
“We want to minimize desktop agents,” said Paul Ratner, Vice President, IT Operations, Humana, Inc. “We want a single agent for DLP discovery, monitoring and control, encryption, content protection and policy enforcement everywhere our data is used or accessed, and Digital Guardian 5 uniquely fits our requirements.”
With Digital Guardian 5, Verdasys redefines the Data Loss Prevention Market by introducing a ground breaking, multi-function intelligent agent for laptops, desktops, and servers on Windows, Linux, Citrix and Solaris operating environments. The new intelligent agent is an integral part of the Digital Guardian platform which enables policy driven context and content based data discovery, classification, monitoring and control, file and email encryption as well as enterprise application monitoring and masking. Digital Guardian 5 capabilities include:
• Context Management: Classify, monitor and enforce security policies based on data level awareness of; source and destination, time, file type and name, network awareness, registry settings, active applications, as well as user role, activity and name.
• Content Inspection: Discover, classify, monitor and enforce security policies based on data content in over 300 file formats and 90 languages. When combined with context management capabilities, Digital Guardian 5 becomes the most advanced and accurate data discovery, classification and monitoring and control solution available in the market today.
• File Encryption: Patented, policy driven automatic encryption of sensitive files located on or copied to local drives, external devices or burned to CD/DVD reduces the risk of data loss when mobile computing devices are stolen or compromised and eliminates the need for whole disk encryption on these devices.
• Mail Encryption: Patented, policy driven automatic encryption of internal and external email content that is invisible to users and eliminates the need for email encryption point solutions.
• Community of Trust: Establish a secure virtual perimeter between the data owner, data provider and data user across an extended enterprise with Digital Guardian 5’s new light weight trust verification agent.
• Application Logging and Masking: Enforce field level data security policy and provide compliance reporting to legacy (3270 terminal emulators), client server and web based applications that lack both the data security and logging capabilities necessary to protect data and assure regulatory compliance.
“With our latest release, we have solved the extremely difficult, high value DLP technology problem: delivering an intelligent, multi-function host agent for laptops, desktops and servers on multiple operating systems. This ground-breaking technology enables the Digital Guardian Platform to address the myriad of data security challenges faced by large global organizations,” said Seth Birnbaum, CEO, Verdasys. “Until today, companies have been forced to piecemeal together multiple point solutions for data discovery, content and context management, encryption, data compliance and data loss prevention, increasing the complexity and cost of their security strategy while leaving gaping holes in it. Digital Guardian 5 sets an entirely new industry standard in its ability to seamlessly meet all of these challenging needs in a fully integrated solution that is scalable on a level not yet achieved in this market,” he added.
"Digital Guardian is a critical component in our overall defense in depth data security strategy and offers integrated protection capabilities enforced from a single set of security policies," said Geoff Aranoff, Chief Information Security Officer at Broadcom. "At the end-point, Digital Guardian enforces digital rights management policy and enables extensive monitoring while not interfering with our highly
collaborative environment. From our extensive source libraries, Digital Guardian ensures we can track the movement of IP from source to endpoint, and control user activities at that endpoint based on policy enforcement," he added.
Digital Guardian 5’s unique and proven architecture enables organizations to implement a data-centric security framework from which business and security professionals can:
• Gain visibility to where sensitive data is located, how it moves through the business and how it is used by employees, contractors, partners and outsourcers
• Analyze and define the risk associated with the sharing of sensitive data enabling managers to make informed business decisions and create effective data security policy
• Implement an automated policy driven approach to data security - driving accountability down to the user; enforcing policy compliance and risk aware behavior
• When necessary, alert, block and record high risk behavior, ultimately preventing costly and damaging data loss incidents
