Digital Guardian Bootcamp

As part of our complete solution, Verdasys offers a five day hands on workshop, which provides all of the tools and training necessary to understand Digital Guardian and configure it to your company needs. Our practical approach to training means you will practice installing, troubleshooting and managing all aspects of the Digital Guardian solution. Along the way, we will challenge you with realistic use cases that require writing rules to regulate the use of sensitive data. Our small class size provides personalized attention and generates in depth discussion. After completing this workshop, you will be prepared to successfully implement and configure Digital Guardian in your enterprise.

OVERVIEW OF DIGITAL GUARDIAN
All Digital Guardian Users
This short course provides a detailed introduction to the Digital Guardian solution. You will learn the role of each of the components in the Digital Guardian platform and understand at a high-level how they interact. Along the way, you will be introduced to the architecture of the Digital Guardian platform and understand how it can be scaled to accommodate an enterprise scale deployment.

INSTALLING DIGITAL GUARDIAN SERVER AND DEPLOYING DIGITAL GUARDIAN AGENTS
For System Administrators
This hands-on course is for system administrators who will be installing the Digital Guardian server and deploying Digital Guardian Agents in a test or a production environment. You will learn how to ensure that your server is set up with all of the necessary pre-requisite software and how to use our database sizing tool to prepare your database prior to installation. You will be able to install the Digital Guardian server in a single-tier or a multi-tier environment. Once the server is installed, you will learn how to deploy Digital Guardian Agents.

DEPLOYING DIGITAL GUARDIAN POLICIES
For Security Architects and Information Risk Managers
This in-depth hands-on course will immerse you in an environment that allows you to create and test Digital Guardian Policies, Rules, Prompts, and Skins. You learn how to use the Digital Guardian Management Console (DGMC) to create and deploy your new policies, rules, prompts and skins to agents. Along the way, you will learn how to write rule conditions using our XML-based rule language and how to customize the look of the prompts presented to users. We will challenge you with realistic use-cases that require writing moderately complex rules.

USING DIGITAL GUARDIAN REPORTS FOR FORENSIC ANALYSIS
For IT Managers, Security Architects, Information Risk Managers, Forensic Specialists
This course will introduce you to the detailed reports available in the Digital Guardian Management Console (DGMC). You will learn how to review and resolve alerts and analyze alert trends over time. You will be able to inspect the most recently reported events and alerts using Local Forensic Activity Reports and report on data gathered over the last several weeks using the Enterprise Reports. You will also learn how to use the case manager tool to gather evidence associated with related policy violations/suspicious activities. Finally, you’ll learn how to save personalized report settings and how to export reports and cases for use outside of Digital Guardian.

USING ADAPTIVE CONTENT INSPECTION AND FILE CLASSIFICATION
For Security Architects and Information Risk Managers
This course is for information risk managers who wish to classify files based on typical Digital Guardian events/properties (Adaptive File Classification) or to classify files/buffers (Adaptive Content Inspection) based on their content.  You will learn how to create rules that apply a classification based on events, properties, keyword patterns, or complex content patterns (e.g. credit card numbers).  You will also learn how to write rules that govern the actions that users can perform with classified files.  Along the way, you will learn how the Digital Guardian Scanner works to handle “data-at-rest” by classifying existing files on user’s drives.  Finally, you will learn to review the Data at Rest report to identify where the sensitive data is within your enterprise.

USING ADAPTIVE FILE AND MAIL ENCRYPTION
For Security Architects and Information Risk Managers
This course is for information risk managers who wish to use Digital Guardian to encrypt files and e-mail messages/attachments that may contain sensitive data.  You will learn some common use cases and how to write the rules to implement them.  Along the way, you will learn how you can silently encrypt/decrypt files that are shared inside the enterprise and how you can use password-based encryption for files sent outside of the enterprise.  Finally, you will learn how to use the Data at Rest report to identify whether or not sensitive data within your enterprise is encrypted.

USING COMMUNITY OF TRUST AND TRUST VERIFICATION AGENTS TO PROTECT SERVERS
For System Administrators
This course is for System Administrators who wish to protect server resources (such as mail servers and database servers) by allowing only trusted connections to that server (for example, a connection from a white-listed IP address or a connection by a Digital Guardian Agent with Community of Trust enabled).  You will learn how to install a Trust Verification Agent (a lightweight agenda designed to monitor network connections, but not monitor/control user activity like a full-blown Digital Guardian Agent).  You will also learn how to enable community of trust in your existing Digital Guardian Agents to allow them to communicate with servers protected by a TVA. Along the way, you’ll also be able to set up client filter lists to white list connections between specific machines.
