About Dr. Geer
An entrepreneur, author, scientist, consultant, teacher, and architect, Dr. Daniel Geer is Chief Information Security Officer at In-Q-Tel and serves as Chief Scientist Emeritus at Verdasys. Previously, Dr. Geer served as CTO of @stake, a leading digital security consulting firm. Dr. Geer also ran the development arm of MIT's Project Athena, where his staff on his watch pioneered Kerberos, the X Window System, and much of what we take for granted in distributed computing. In past positions as a consultant and an officer in a number of startups, he has provided industry leaders with high-level strategies in all matters of digital security and in promising areas of security research. He is a widely noted author in scientific journals and the technology press, and has co-authored several books on risk management and information security.
Mr. Mark Thompson
Mark Thompson is Vice President of Product Management at Verdasys, Inc. Mr. Thompson is responsible for product strategy, release planning and product design for all Verdasys products including Digital Guardian and SiteTrust. In addition, he is responsible for establishing and managing technology partnerships.
Prior to joining Verdasys, Mr. Thompson spent several years as a software industry analyst at AMR Research. Previously, he has worked as a management consultant focusing on market strategy and acquisition evaluation for a number of Fortune 500 companies in the technology, pharmaceutical, and financial services sectors.
Mr. Thompson holds an MBA from the Sloan School of Management at MIT and a Master’s degree in Engineering from Stanford University. He also received Bachelor’s degrees in Civil Engineering and Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
